For educators & homeschool families

The pedagogy of cardboard.

Cardboard Toy World Toymaker
1

Easy to teach

Illustrations on the blueprints and clear assembly videos handle the core instruction.

2

Real engineering

We physically construct mechanisms and learn how machines work.

3

Standards-aligned

We learn engineering, mechanics, geometry and design with our hands and tools.

A classroom-ready system

A small kit of materials. A complete making process.

These projects work well in STEM camps, enrichment programs, homeschool settings and workshops. The construction instruction lives in the video, so educator preparation stays minimal.

  • Tools: scissors, ruler and a way to watch the assembly videos.
  • Materials: CTW blueprints, glue
  • Six levels of difficulty.

The toymaking videos

These projects are not meant to be easy. They are meant to be satisfying.

The blueprints have schematic illustrations showing completed parts and their position in the finished toy. The assembly videos show how to make each part and how to put them together. Video chapters match the part names on the blueprints.

Built around classroom reality

Designed from the educator's side of the table.

All of these toys have been thoroughly tested at workshops with middle school learners. Each of these toys has been made successfully many, many times by real world learners.
